Description

Climate change, health and buildings are intrinsically linked. After a global pandemic and a year of wildfires, indoor air quality (IAQ) has become a clear focus. Simultaneously, as we’re trying to mitigate the worst effects of climate change by cutting emissions, we are adapting to disasters we are already facing. The built world accounts for nearly 40% of all energy-related carbon dioxide emissions. Meanwhile, more than 50% of U.S. buildings are in disaster hotspots with Americans spending on average over 90% of their time inside. Safeguarding tenants against climate catastrophes and unhealthy air quality is imperative. How can the industry take an eco-conscious stance to IAQ? Panelists will discuss solutions to this and reveal survey results of how IAQ is managed and understood across the real estate landscape and how it is balanced and prioritized against energy efficiency goals. This is positive for tenant satisfaction for disease prevention and a no brainer for investor value.
